Lawyer, Partner and Founder

Having qualifications in law and in counselling, I enjoy working with clients who appreciate a professional who provides a friendly, emotionally supportive environment while working towards a positive outcome for their family law matter.

Having lived with my step-children full time for many years now, I understand the twists and turns of the post-separation journey and have watched children adapting to new arrangements.

I enjoy assisting people with property and children’s matters and also have a special interest in step-families, second marriages and people who are starting their new, post-separation, life after 40. As a proud dog mum, I also enjoy assisting people with pet custody issues.

If you are someone who already values spirituality and wellness then rather than my more traditional practice, I can also assist you through my collaboration with Jason Snaddon – see www.holisticdivorce.com.au.

Although I have spent my career working with people who are separating, I remain passionate about love, the colour red, all things heart-shaped and my dog, Harvey.

Lawyer, Partner and Founder

I am a mum of two very active boys and know the demands that life can place on a family. Having children changed my approach to family law and I then trained as a Collaborative Family lawyer to provide me with the tools to empower my clients and provide them with a choice other than litigation. Having trained and practised as a lawyer in England for many years I then moved to Melbourne with my family and I know all about starting a new life. I am dual qualified in both English and Australian law and enjoy assisting clients internationally.

One of my great passions is my horse, Ben and I enjoy working with horse lovers from the Mornington Peninsula and beyond.

I offer a practical approach to assisting clients in all aspects of their separation and have a particular interest in complex property settlements, including acting for the partner who may need assistance to understand the intricacies of their family wealth

I love everything glitzy and glamorous and believe there is always a place to sparkle.

Understanding my client’s needs and assisting them to navigate through a very personal and emotional time is what keeps me passionate about family law.

I offer a broad range of technical legal skills and life experience and enjoy providing practical advice and a strategic pathway for clients, tailored to their needs.

My client base is broad with a focus on helping professionals with their property and parenting matters whether by negotiation or litigation. I also have a soft spot for helping new mothers, being a relatively new mum myself.

When I’m not in the office you can likely find me chasing after my toddler, enjoying a laugh, sharing care of my little dog Poppy with my father-in-law and dreaming of post-covid travels to exotic locations.

I originally hail from Western Australia and like to see myself as a calm head in stormy waters. I studied at the Australian National University in Canberra before moving to Melbourne.

I favour practical and pragmatic solutions to family law matters, ensuring you never lose sight of the big picture – be it the best interests of your child or children or helping you achieve a just and equitable property settlement.

I have a particular interest in assisting clients navigate separation where their family business interests are involved. I will help you unpick the tough and curly problems that arise when you and your former spouse have operated a business together.

I also often work with clients involved in family violence matters, and I enjoy advocacy of all kinds.

Prior to family law, I have worked in marketing and news publication.

I have extensive experience in all things family law – from “pre-nup” agreements to property settlements and parenting following separation and all things in between. I am also able to assist in matters relating to guardianship and administration orders and the decision-making powers of people with disabilities.

With dual qualifications in both law and psychology, I am acutely aware of the interplay between the two and pride myself on working closely with clients to minimise the effects of disputes on both them and their families. By ensuring that people are dealt with in a way that resonates with them specifically, I help clients find clarity in what can otherwise be very murky times.

While I help clients from all demographics I have a large client base of young professionals, including people entering into relationships and also experienced professionals with established asset pools who appreciate no-nonsense advice.

When not working, I am kept busy with my role as a board member and legal advisor for the Peace of Mind Foundation and getting my hands dirty with home renovations. Most of all, however, I love hiding out in a National Park somewhere for some much needed R&R with my husband and dog.

I have experience in all family law related matters as well as Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Appointments of Medical Decision Makers.

Holding qualifications in both Law and Commerce (majoring in Accounting), I am conscious of the impact separation has on a family unit on a personal, emotional and financial level. I pride myself on providing exceptional service to my clients and working closely with them to ensure a fair outcome, adopting a client-centric and empathic approach to put clients at ease in difficult circumstances.

In my spare time, I am kept busy assisting my husband with running his business as well as baking and cooking for my large extended family. I love travelling with my husband, going on nature walks and exploring all Australia has to offer.

I can work with clients:

  • In Rockbank and surrounding suburbs;

I can work with clients:

  • In regional Victoria;

I live in Bairnsdale in beautiful Gippsland. In addition to my private clients I am also qualified as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, being appointed by the court in those matters as a representative of the children’s best interests. I have extensive experience representing parents, children and carers in the Children’ Court of Victoria in Child Protection and also in assisting people dealing with family violence issues. My priority is finding practical solutions for my clients to avoid, wherever possible, stressful and lengthy court proceedings.

In amongst my client base are young professionals from regional areas, people seeking to resolve arrangements for time with their children, people dealing with family violence issues, as we well as people seeking guidance with property settlement.

When I am not lawyering, my loves are yoga, camping and spending time with my young family.

Did you know that one in six children in Australia is disadvantaged?

Some children are struggling without the most basic of human needs: a safe home, food and clothing. Others are denied any fair opportunity because they cannot afford books, computers, musical instrument or sporting equipment that would allow them to participate fully in their education and development.

At Umbrella Family Law, we proudly support The Sixth Child, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children everywhere through direct, hands-on projects that deliver educational tools, support service and social justice.

Our Melbourne team is based at our HQ at 142-144 Albert Road South Melbourne

We also support clients in Winchelsea and Bacchus Marsh in regional Victoria and from all over Australia and the world via Zoom and telephone.
