Umbrella Family Law

What is Fight Free February?

Fight Free February is a free, community-driven initiative created by Jane Libbis, co-founder of Umbrella Family Law, to help people reduce conflict in their lives – not just in courtrooms, but also around kitchen tables and in co-parenting conversations.

Sign up to receive one email per day for the month of February, featuring short, effective strategies for managing conflict without fighting.

You’ll hear from:

  • Family lawyers with years of experience in de-escalating separation and parenting issues
  • Psychologists and counsellors who work with individuals and families
  • Coaches, mediators and communication experts
  • Wellness professionals who understand the mind-body connection
  • People with lived experience of surviving toxic relationships or family violence

What Kind of Conflict Are We Talking About?

This initiative is for you if you’ve ever thought:

  • “We argue about the same things over and over.”
  • “I’m walking on eggshells at home.”
  • “My kids are picking up on all the tension.”
  • “I don’t want to fight – but I don’t know how else to be heard.”
  • “I want to co-parent better.”
  • “I need to learn how to respond instead of react.”

Whether you’re in a high-conflict separation, a stressful parenting phase, a strained relationship, or recovering from emotional abuse, Fight Free February offers tools to help you:

  • Communicate more clearly
  • Understand emotional triggers
  • Set healthy boundaries
  • De-escalate arguments
  • Protect your nervous system
  • Improve relationships without sacrificing your voice

What Will you Receive?

Each email will include:

  • A practical tip of the day

  • Short, easy-to-use scripts, affirmations or tools

  • Optional deeper content (a link, article or reflection prompt)

  • Real insights from people who work with conflict every day

  • No spam. No cost. Just real support.

Why Should you Sign Up?

Because change starts with one small shift. You don’t need to overhaul your whole life. You just need one pause before reacting, one different response, one new strategy – and those moments add up.

People who have joined in past years have told us:

“I avoided a major argument by just reading the morning tip and changing how I opened a conversation.”
“My co-parenting communication has completely changed thanks to these emails.”
“It was like having a calm coach in my inbox each morning.”

You might be navigating:

  • Separation or divorce
  • Family breakdowns
  • Parenting teenagers
  • Workplace stress
  • A history of family violence or toxic dynamics

If your relationship includes verbal abuse, control, gaslighting, or intimidation, we’ll also be including resources and links to support services. If anything in our emails raises concerns for your safety, help is available – and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Whatever the situation, Fight Free February can offer insights, connection and hope.
